Kung Fu Panda 3

Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016)

Rating: PG

Director(s): Jennifer Yuh Nelson, Alessandro Carloni

Kung Fu Panda 3 is the third installment in the Kung Fu Panda series. This one was directed by both Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni. A lot of people like this movie and I must agree, this movie is great, not only for children but adults as well.

The movie takes place a bit after the events of  Kung Fu Panda 2. An old Kung Fu master named Kai ((J.K. Simmons)) has captured the chi of all of the Kung Fu masters in the “Spirit World”, this allows Kai to enter into the mortal world, and he wants to capture the chi of all the Kung Fu masters in the mortal world. Meanwhile in the mortal world, Po (Jack Black) has discovered his long lost father (Bryan Cranston). When Po finds out about Kai he needs to learn the art of chi quickly. Thankfully the pandas are masters of chi… or are they? Po’s father tells him to come back to the secret panda village for him to master chi. But Po finds out that his father doesn’t actually know how to teach him to use chi. So now all Po has to defeat Kai is himself, Tigris (Angelina Jolie), his father(s) and a village full of pandas.

This movie was hilarious. There were tons of funny jokes, some that any kid would understand and some that only adults would laugh at. I loved the plot for this movie and i loved the animation. The movie was well planed and well executed.

One thing that i liked about this movie is that it was even better than Kung Fu Panda 2, and I love it when there is a trilogy of movies where all three of them were good. Another thing that was great was that they rarely recycled old jokes from the other movies. Usually funny movies take jokes from the previous movies and reuse them, thankfully Kung Fu Panda 3 did not do that.

My only problem with this movie was that there were a couple of flaws, minor details that just kind of bugged me. For example, Tigris finds her way to the secret panda village somehow, not only does the find her way there, but she finds it extremely quickly, and it takes Kai days to get to it even though he has already been there before.

Of course the movie isn’t perfect, and it wasn’t the best movie ever, but it did give us great enjoyable material and a fun story with a good message behind it. It was beautifully animated and it was very funny.

In the end I enjoyed myself greatly at this movie and my rating for it is:

B
